Default Floor

Hello everyone. Today, on an impulse decision, I decided to go for the "bad-***" metal look for the interior. Everything was going great, I tore up the carpets and whatnot, but then as I got to the pedal area, I started tearing up some nasty black stuff. I poked a hole through it, and saw the road below me! I'm assuming it is supposed to be that way, but if I tear all of that black stuff out, what kind of work will I have to do to seal it up? My buddies were saying I could just weld a sheet of aluminum in that area, but I would like to know what you guys think. I know this isn't 2nd gen camaro specific, but so far the forum has treated me well! Would really like to hear from those who built these from the ground up.

Thanks

Pictures. I have never seen a floor that you could see the road. I am thinking you have some rust holes that need patched.

I don't know of any vehicles made (besides Fred Flintstone's car) that have holes in the floor that should be there! And no, you can't weld aluminum over it, unless the floor is aluminum now. It at least needs to be steel, and if you're plans are to keep it, then it should be done the right way, not just scabbed together. Cutting out all the bad metal, and replacing with new metal of equal or greater gauge.

Unless he's looking at a drain hole where a plastic plug goes?

That's what I'm thinking.

Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel silly right now. Here's the picture of it after I grew a pair and kept peeling off the black stuff. I realize now that I just so happened to poke through the ONE hole in the entire thing. Guess I will do the suggested above and cut it out/weld some steel in. Sorry about that guys, next time I won't assume things. I panicked!
