exhaust manifold headers
hi ! i am currently restoring a 75 350 camaro. i am going to redo the exhaust from the headers to the tail pipes i would like to install the headers my self to save money i found a place that will do this for $80 an hour that is kinda high for me . it does not look that hard i have a chiltons book for this but it does not cover enough to determine if i can do this my self i have the tools (torch wrench socket sets wrenches screw drivers drills pri bars) but i dont know if i need something else. any help i can get will help . i am trying to restore this on a real small budget i am married and have 3 kids my wife would like me to get rid of this but i have convinced her that this will not be to costly can any of you please help me any advice or tips to make this easier would really be appreciated

You can try to do it yourself, personally, Id bite the bullet and have it done by a shop. You are going to need good welds, depending on where you live, moisture can killyour exhaustsystem and it creeps in thru bad welds etc.
If you plan on replacing the whole system, Summit has some decent all inclusive systems from $175 to almost $400, you could buy the parts, and ask a shop to install them. watch for sales...I got a "closeout" system formy 68 GTO, 2.5" flowmaster w/H pipe, mufflers, headers back--all of it for $259 darn gooddeal. good luck.
