Default Engine Wiring Help

Hey guys I need help with some wiring. I can't find my distributor power. The wiring was originally for an I6. There are seven wires running from the fuse block 2 black, red, brown, yellow, blue, and green. None of these seem to be the right wire. According to the wiring diagram I have the wire should be pink. Why can't I find it? Thanks for your help. Also the car did not have a tach so I think there is no tach wire. How should I go about wiring the tach wire?

What year is your car? I will try to look at mine tomorrow. I installed a tach years ago and seems like the speed part of the wiring attached at the distributor, in addition to a power connection. I will try to check on details if this will help.

Are you using a HEI distributor, or an older style distributor with points? You should be able to test the leads and see which is hot when the key is on, and also when the key is in the start position. That wire will be the coil wire.
The tach connects to the negative side of the coil, and most tachs will have a green lead for the pickup wire. Make sure your tach is compatible with whatever style distributor and ignition you're using.
