Which engine????

well it depends on how much patience and money you have. I think you would like the 350 more when you get it up and running but it requires more work and maybe more money. But the 327 is a pretty fun motor too but might have to sacrifice some power to have good street manners if were talking 400 plus hp.
well the 79 camaro's didn't come with a 327 but heres the 305 and 350 data(assuming it came from a late 2nd gen camaro):
HP Tq
305* V-8 3.736 x 3.48125 @ 3200* 235 @ 2000
LG-3 305 V-8 3.736 x 3.48130 @ 3200 245 @ 2000
LM-1 350* V-8 4.00 x 3.48 165 @ 3800* 260 @ 2400
LM-1 350 V-8 4.00 x 3.48 170 @ 3800 270 @ 2400
Z-28 350* V-8 4.00 x 3.48 170 @ 4000* 265 @ 2400
Z-28 350 V-8 4.00 x 3.48 175 @ 4000 270 @ 2400

yeah. you dont really see any 79 camaro's with 327's in them. i believe the 350's out of an old blazer. not sure what car the 327's out of. probably not that big of a differance between the two power wise in stock form. or am i completly wrong?

well it depends what year and car there both out of but if there from around the same time and similar car, then they probably dont have that much of a difference in stock form. but it all depends on exactly where it came from

I like 327's myself,they have the 4" bore like a 350 but a little shorter stroke so they the really wind up nice.
Don't kid yourself into thinking a 327 can't be a good builder,a lot depends on what year and model motor either the 327 or 350 is as to which would be the best builder.
Keep in mind even the DZ302 is the same block and and and damn potent little engine.
Late 327's ('68-'69) with the large main journals are pretty much the same block as a 350,if it's a high performance 327 it'll have the big valve heads and a steel crank,some Corvette 327's were rated at 375hp.
I'd build a late 327 especially a hi performance Corvette type engine over a 350 smog motor any day.
Now if that's a 4 bolt main steel crank 350 shortblock you've got a great base there to make some good reliable power,just slap some Vortec heads and a good intake and carb on it with a nice cam in there and whammy!
