Default Electrical Stuffs (Stereo & Some Loose Wires)

Okay, so I made a video to save me some time on typing, pictures and stuff.

Here is the link :

also, another problem i am having is that for some reason my reverse lights quit working. they were working fine, then one day they just quit for no apparent reason.

the fuse is good, the bulbs are good, everything "seems" to be in order.

any things i should check ?

I stopped your video half way so I hope I can help you. No the plug is not factory. The one the store sold you is correct. What I would do, and I keep a couple just for this. Go to the junk yard ( I hope you have one local) and find ANY GM vehicle from the mid to late 70's to the mid 80's. Then cut the plugs off. Give yourself an additional foot of wire if possible. The wire colors will be the same as the Camaros so simply use butt connectors or solder the new plugs in. There are three if I'm remembering right.

You can take your aftermarket harness plug with you and plug it in the junk yard car to make sure you get all the correct plugs. I realize that the aftermarket plugs probably weren't out back in the 70's to make installing a stereo plug and play. But dang did every stoner in 1979 hack the crap out of their car to install a Sparkomatic? I run into this all the time because my buddies bring me their cars. Stoners are still doing it.

My reverse lights weren't working on my 80 Z, everything else on the tailight bar was......so I was ready to order a new reverse switch and start looking at the tranny linkage, when I decided to look at the bulbs.....and there weren't any! Put in new bulbs and voila! Make sure you check the simple stuff first before you go too deep.

I agree your linkage between the shifter and the collar on the column may be loose.

When you put the car in gear, watch the column. There is a collar right up at the dash that rotates when the shifter moves. If the linkage is out of adjustment the lights won't come on and sometimes the key won't come out. You can put the car in reverse and grab the collar and turn it. Do this at night backup up to a building or have a helper look to see if there coming on.
