Dragging Brakes (Booster Rod too long?)
Hello,
I have a 76 Camaro with an aftermarket brake booster (previous owner installed).
My brakes keep dragging.
I have a temporary solution, but need to know a more permanent one.
My only adjustment for the booster is behind the peddle. I adjusted this all the way out to try to stop the drag. No luck. (At least I think that's the adjustment)
What I needed to do temporarily is to place a few washers between the booster and master cylinder. This is definitely not something I want permanent since I don't want stuff to get between them.
I saw online that many people have adjustable rods that stick out of the booster. Mine is not adjustable.
What do I need to do? Any ideas?
Thanks!

You are 90% there. If it is too long then it is adjustable. Use more washers to get everything right where you want it. Then remove the washers and measure the thickness. Then just use a had grinder and shorten the pin the amount you measured or buy an adjustable one and adjust it to that length. I would go as far as putting the length in this thread so I could always find it.
One of the great things about keeping a build thread on a project is you can store tons of info. I have info in mine I know no one wants to see but if I ever need it is there. My threads go back to 2009.

do you know if the rod is one piece all the way from the peddle to the master cylinder. Or is it a piece that goes to the booster and then another piece from the booster to master cylinder?
