i know it does have potential... the point that i was trying to make was that even tho it did't come with all that HP off the factory the torque ratings are high enought to show that it is a strong eough engine to be consider a muscle car, at least compare to most cars out there, even tho it might not be as high as the early camaros.

IMO the camaro has always been a muscle car and always will be
i have a 78 and me and my friends call it a muscle car
i really dont care about some stupid little history of when muscle cars were and which models were
i even call the new camaro a muscle car along with the new mustangs

As stated by the definition link posted earlier, it is fair to class the SS and Z28 Camaros as muscle cars. For the late seventies they were the true bad boys of their time, even if they didn't necessarily match their earlier ancestors. I consider my 1980 Z28 a muscle car, and proudly so. But I digress, it really depends on how technicality-minded you are. I try to be middle-minded, on the one hand modernized laws and engineering is quite practical, while on the other hand it did diminish the raw power...But not always substantially. 350s are powerful enough engines in my book.

I say a car is what you make it and if you buy a car that is 400 horse stock then you didn't build it, and your not a true gearhead. Why couldn't you build a suped up motor in a 70s model. I say this cause I got a 78 camaro with 4.10 posi, 350 horse, and 350 turbo with b&m shift, true duals, and a good rep at the track. So why isn't it a muscle car?
