Nothing personal, but mainly because those years lacked a main ingredient....big muscle!
The "muscle car era" was pretty much wound down by the early 70's due to federal emissions choking the life (and muscle) out of the cars. Before that, a base V-8 engine of 275-300 h.p. was not uncommon, and some models were available with engines that had well over 400 h.p. After 1972, those years were considered the "smog years", with cookie-cutter ho-hum cars (not just GM), and high h.p. engines were a thing of the past...for the time being anyway. Generally, the term "muscle car" refers to the 1960's to very early 70's models. More modern cars are now commonly referred to as "performance" vehicles, not muscle cars.

For some reason I can't vote because of the server error.

Anyway, I do not think that those years can be categorized as muscle cars. Pretty much because of what Camaro69 said. They do look good and have great bodies to turn into muscle car by upgrading engine but "as is" they are no muscle cars.

Yes. My deffinition is a bit different than 69's in that I consider a muscle car to be:
A. 2 door
B. V-8
C. American (could be a sub, like Holden)
D. Common in afordable and available.

mostly, subject to change... so my answer is yes.

No, my 70 307 is faster than any 75 Camaro and I dont consider mine a muscle car. Heck of a lot of fun to drive especially through the corners but not really a muscle car.

Well, hard to say that one... I'll have to say no, although I love the '75-81 Camaros. I would consider it a muscle car if it had a stronger motor in it, but it's not a FACTORY muscle car. Let's face it, 155 horses from a '75 350 Camaro is just sad. BUT, if you pop a good motot in it I would consider it one, though still not a factory muscle car, therefore it doesn't have the honour of being a TRUE muscle car.

this above statment makes no sence,my 73 came with a 145hp 350 so your saying its not a muscle car becuase it dosent have enough power.
