Default Carb Help!

I recently bought an edelbrock 1400 carb and I started the rebuild process this afternoon. I was trying to back out the both sets of jets for replacement, the brass heads broke. I've soaked them in wd-40 but they still wont budge; I've also ended up breaking 2 now, the other two still untouched. Has this happened to anyone before, or heard of a remedy?

I haven't messed with edelbrock carbs in a long time, but, if they are basically the same as Holley jets, you should be able to get them out with a tool called an EZ out. which looks like drill bit but its tapered and the threads are cut reverse of a normal drill bit. The idea is to insert it into whatever you are trying to remove ( broken bolt, jet, etc) and by turning it counter-clockwise, it will tap into the broken part and back it out. They come in different sizes and have a square shank to put vise grips onto it. Hope this helps. Bob

Thanks a lot. I've actually been trying the the "ez" out. But I'll just have to keep working at it. I'm honestly afraid of stripping the threads out, but if it has worked in the past, Ill put some extra muscle behind it.

Well the ez out tip just broke inside the jet. I can try to drill it out and hope I don't touch the threads, or I am in search of a new carb body. Does anyone know a website that sells partial carbs?

If I had seen this prior to you breaking the EZ out I'd have said to put some heat and then penetrating oil on it before the EZ out. At this point the EZ out wont come out with a drill, they're too hard.
Holley carb bodies are available, but I haven't seen anyone selling edelbrock bodies.

Sorry if I messed you up, I figured the EZ out would dig into the hole in the jet. Again, apologies. Bob

No worries, I've had good luck with ez outs before, just not in this application. There was only 1/4" of ez out I used a dremel with a diamond ball bit and 2 hours and I've almost removed all of the bit without touching the brass. If I can get it out without ruining the threads, Ill try heat and oil.
