Default Carb and air filter questions

I’m in the process of replacing the stock 2BBL carb and intake manifold on my 78 LT with a 4BBL edlebrock 1406 carb and a Holly Dominator 2 intake manifold that was sent to me with the car.

im already having to order an electric choke To go on the carburetor because the one that was sent has a manual in this car needs an electric.

I have to order a new air filter housing as obviously the two barrel air filter housing will not fit on the four barrel carburetor. However there are rubber lines that come off of this Air filter housing and I do not see those on the possible replacements that fit my carburetor. What are these lines for and what happens to them if I replace the air filter housing?

I can include photos of lines that I am referring to if necessary.

Probably PCV valve from the valve cover, you can just plug them off or get a different aircleaner that doesn't have them.
I hope you have a 350 not a 305 and at least dual exhaust if not headers.
Is the carb a 500 or 650? A 2 barrel motor especially a 305 is easy to over carb and in particular if you don't have good exhaust flow and it's better to have a cam upgrade with the exhaust upgrade.
If not you may find out that the only increase you get is fuel consumption not power.

i do have dual exhaust on the car right now and
i have a new cam shaft and a rebuild kit to install yet, that will require the cylinders be over-bored.

It is a 305 though. I am looking to get a bit more power than stock but not looking to blow any doors off. Would these things not work well on the 305 at all? Not the end of the world if that is the case as I love this car, but still would be a touch disappointed.

It'll work but don't expect much for gains, hopefully the rebuild kit has a bit more compression but the 305 is pretty hard to get good power out of,not much for heads for one thing.
Would have been way better off to source a 350 to rebuild, they're a dime a dozen these days since hotrodders have started going LS in most swaps.
350 is a direct bolt in and all you accessories bolt on same as your 305.
I guess that's water under under the bridge since you already bought a kit though.
The short answer is yes it'll work but don't expect a big bump it will be modest, you'll really need a set of headers because your engine needs to breath out what it breaths in.Stock exhaust manifolds are restrictive and will really hurt your chances of gaining much power ,headers are an important part of the package and to make more power the package needs to be complete.

You just treat it like a 4bbl car .And use a factory air filter unit from that year if you want the "stock" look .And the other years as well as open element aftermarket ones The cars were built from 1970 1/2-81 .So you have a lot to choose from.
