Default any edelbrock carb guru's???

ok so i just bought an edelbrock performer carb for my car to replace the broken q-jet...and when i crank it over if i hold it floored it will pop alittle but nothing even close to running.and you cant ehar any gas squirting through the carb like we could with the q-jet.it was suppose to come off of a 302 (i hope a fellow camaro owner didnt screw me over) so would it be set up diffrent for the 302 other than my 350? also should i hear the gas squirting through or does this carb work diffrent? im really frustraited and confused so can some1 pls help....

thanks, dalton

are you getting fuel? if a fuel line is loose the pump is gunna suck any air before the fuel. make sure you have a good connection from the pump to the carb. also is anything getting blocked. check if the plugs are getting wet. just if you used a compression fitting for the fuel line, just make sure everything is tight.

You should still see fuel come out of the squirters when you pump it. Crack open the fuel line at the carb and have someone turn over the engine till you see fuel at the fitting(unless you have3 an electric fuel pump if you do simply turn it on). I doubt it really does anything but I would tap on it a little with the plastic end of a screwdriver(float stuck). The carb is basically a carter afb design.

yea i found the problem....it was another learners (aka stupid) mistake on my part.....scicne i got it used it had no instructions on what was what so i assumed it was generally the same idea as the q-jet.....so i hooked the fuel like to the front fitting....witch turns out it was a vacume line not fuel(duh).......well i guess from now on ill do the reserch befor i screw up lol....but yea so now im changin the oil cuz the gas just got pumped stright into the motor and its all flooded....but i should ahve it goin later today...........
