We would like to install an after market air cleaner housing on our 1977 Camaro 305. We have purchased a couple of filters & housings, but they sit too high on the carburetor and don't leave enough clearance for the hood to close.

Any suggestions as to what after market air cleaner housing we can buy that will replace the original and still allow us clearance to close the hood?

There are Billet Specialties air cleaner assembly with a flat billet top .There are also reproduction 1970 Camaro LT-1 air cleaner that sit pretty low. I have a Spectre billet flat top on my 1979 Z-28 on my supercharged small block Chevy . that should work as well.

 

You need an air cleaner that has a dropped base, like how the factory one was designed.
