Default 79 camaro A Arm mod question

Hi, I have a 79 camaro that currently has shorty headers on it and I have a set of long tube headers to put on it. For this to work its saying that I must modify the lower A-Arm support bracket on 79-81 models. Can anyone that has done this explain whats involved in this a little better for me please.. Thanks in advance

Most of the long tubes I've bought are pre-bent to handle clearances. What brand are they?

They are Jegs 30050 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/30050/10002/-1#

that would be good if no mods were necessary

Yeah, I think the problem is that they are for 67-81 Camaro, 64-77 Chevelle/Monte Carlo, 68-79 Nova & 65-89 Full Size. All w/265-400 CI.

They're primarily made to be an "across the board" style that can fit many different cars with slight fabrication.

I'm running Hooker Competition headers and they went right in without any problems. I think you can get a set for around 160 from Summit that are for 70 - 81 Camaros specifically.

Here's a link where I chose the stock Gen 1 SBC engine in a 79 Camaro.

I have the same headers on my 81,it's pretty easy to modify them with a sawzall or i just used a dremel with a cutoff wheel.Basically all you need to do is take off the support bracket, put the header on and hold the bracket up where it will be bolted back on at and mark where you need to cut, there is one tube on each header that blocks it so you have to do both sides. It's fairly easy though.
