Default 78 Idle trouble

Hey guys, im new to this forum but i hope you can help, i have a 1978 Camaro RS with the 350 5.7 with a 4bbl Rochester carb. i just rebuilt the carb, i have new vacuum lines, new fuel lines, new fuel filter, i played with the timing, and i put total fuel system Seafome cleaner into it, and Still it revs fine, but whenever i punch it, or just give it a little more gas then it really needs, when i push the clutch in or shift into nuetral, it revs at about 25-30k rpm, i figured the 31 yr old carb with no gaskets left and rotted lines were the problem, but no, if anyone else is having this problem or had this problem could ya let me know whats wrong? thanx everyone!

Could be the throttle shaft bushings are bad and leaking air causing a lean condition at idle.
Have you checked for other vacuum leaks, sounds like air is getting in there somewhere.
Did you rebuild the carb yourself?

Default im stupid!

i found a vacuum intake that had nothing on it, but couldnt find any hoses near it so i plugged it up with a rubber nipple, but now i see what was the problem, the Edelbrock air cleaner was tilter very slightly bc i didnt put the bolt back perfectly when i rebuilt the carb, and the air cleaner i guess when i gunned it, it would shake very slightly and then after that would rest on the choke leaving the choke all the way open, i repositioned the bolt and air intake and i havent had the problem again lol thanks anyway.

If getting th choke plate stuck will get me 25,000-30,000 rpms, I'm gonna go mess with mine! I can't get over 7,000 rpm's no matter what I try!
