Default 70 camaro tailights leaking help

does anyone have any pics on how 70 camaro taillights should fit/look,mine show about 1/4 inch rubber gasket around chrome ring. My trunk filled up with water leaking around tailights, they fit kind of loose around the chrome ring but seem to be pressed up against car tight. any tips/tricks on how to fix? weather adhesive?

They should show some of the weatherstripping, and it sounds like your's is right, but probably old. I'd just order the new rubber rings and slip them in. Really easy fix, and they're still available.
$29 for the set at NPD and the #C-2660-6AK

Ok thanks, i also noticed the top bolt on tail light housing barely comes thru hole so nut wont tighten. I think the hosing may be warped but the whole assembly seems to fit tight anyway.

NPD also has new housings to drop your assemblies into if it's warped. I think I'd be pulling the nuts and see what's going on that would allow so little stud to protrude through the housing. If the nut wont tighten that will also cause the leak. Might want to get new nuts too, so they grab better.
I had one ear on my housing that was broken off, so I used a big fender washer to get to good plastic that would pull down.

I cant believe those bolts are not threaded, its got like flimsy thin metal nuts that cut into metal, only place i ever saw nuts like that were on plastic bolts? i bet i do need new ones so they cut in deeper.

Check your local NAPA store. I found they have what you want in their Ecklin catalog, and if it's not at the store they can bring it from their warehouse.

Got to thinking last night (sometimes that can be dangerous!)and I remember a friend bringing his early 2nd gen over because he couldn't get the nuts to grab on those studs.
When we took it apart I found someone had put some dense foam double sided tape under the original gaskets to try to make them thicker, and seal better. You might pull the nuts and see what the seals look like, and maybe somebody was messing with them in the past.
