Hey Andross,
the REAL question is what do you have to spend? If you are serious about building something why don't you give us a call and we can point you in the right direction. I would be more then happy to speak with you regarding the NECESSITIES and the " Bobbles and Bolt ons " that aren't crucial. I also could tell you buying parts yourself and Putting it together can get pricey unless you get Awesome deals on everything. We for example have deals with alot of higher end parts Co's that enable us to give solid packages with GOOD components. Like I said we can build you up something for alot better then 9,000.... We are building 2 STRONG Stroker motors in the 5-6,000 price range wich will have all the goodies... MSD, Dart Heads, Holley Carb etc. So as I said... the REAL question is what do you want to spend. If you want to get serious let me know
Either way, We would be more then happy to point you in the right direction.

Well from Proformance unlimited, you got all the parts listed, you see what you get, and that does come with the accessories. It is a TRUE DROP IN TURN KEY MOTOR!

That looks to be the better of the two, still I agree with Andross it seems a bit high... especially with a cast crank.
My original plans was to rebuild to 350 into a 383 but I recently discovered that mine is a 305... There is no way I will be able to get my 305 to a 383 (Safley).
So I was thinking.
If I bought a crate 350 and bored to a 383 and then got all the preformance parts and everything I want to get I would prob cost me around 3500-4000 easily... wounldn't it?

You are not going to get your 305 to a 383. If you are going to buy a crate just buy the 383 crate you buy a 350 crate and you need to change all the stuff we mentioned before to get to 383(the 3.75" crank makes the 383). You get a 4 bolt 350 block from a junk yard and you are at the start of this post again. You want to stay in that price range get a 350 do a good rebuild with some mild performance parts and you can still make in the 350+ hp range and be well within your budget put the extra in the subframe and suspention and have a well mannered street car.

If you're on a budget, that's the best engine you could go for in terms of bang for your buck. Put that in it, do the subframe and suspension as GRIFF says, and then add performance parts over time when you have the money. 290HP is still quite a bit in a 2nd gen camaro.
I had a car 20 something years ago with a 400 in it it was the 255 hp 2bbl version we changed the cam put headers and a 4 bbl on it. I had a great time with that car it would easily light them up and ran on pump gas, I doubt if it even made 350 HP.
