350 TBI Swap Into 73'
I have a 1991 350 TBI out of a police interceptor. It has the full wire harness and all of the sensors as well as the 700r4 trans. I want to put it into my 73' camaro. What sensors and wires will I need to keepand which ones I can take out? Also, can anyone point me in the right direction of finding some wire harness diagrams or labeled pictures? Any good books have this info?
try chiltons manual. It might be difficult to find an exact wiring diagram for your car, you might have to buy one. There are alot of guys on here that have made similar swaps, give it some time and one will come along with a more detailed answer. I can forsee that you will need to make sure the 700r4 fits the car, then work on the fuel delivery. If the 73 was carburated you will have to get fuel to the tbi or tpi on the new motor. The mounts should need only very moderate fitting to work and you can worry about the emisions stuff sfter the mill is in the car and running.
Are you sure its TBI or is it TPI.
I would not count on a new chiltons for wiring diagrams. The new ones are printed by haynes and they are nothening but a haynes in sheeps clothing.
You can find some diagrams on autozone.com. Also I have an older Chiltons when they were good for the third gen Camaros' and an old Clymer for the 67-81 Camaros with some diagrams. I can scan and email.
