well i plan to go to UTI Nascar in North Carolina when i get out of the navy. so im going to do the rebuild while in school and can ask my instructors the right questions. plus i think it would be a nice class project
UTI. Man. I was six weeks from leaving Michigan to go to the MArine Mechanics Institute at UTI Orlando. Then I found out I was gonna be a daddy. Oh well. Does the GI bill cover them? I had to come up with 28 grand for a 18 month education. Good Luck.

Default the only thing hurting will be the gas milage

good choice guys! you can get the kits to build up a 383 or you can get it all done and built for you.

a freind of mine has an engine he bored and stroked to max ...
started with a 400 block,
a kit of rods and pistons to help a 454 crank fit, major cutting nessesary, even the cam was interfering with the crank at one spot until remachined and rebalanced
total displacement from the small block is 434 cubes
then a set of dart pro 1 heads and a 4000 stall torque
hes putting 125 buck of gas to drive the car for an hour
but he estimates the engine has over 600 hp
i think its more because he has a 400 at 525 hp that was dyno tested
and the 434 is soo much more powerful it;d twisting his 67 chevelle soo bad it spends a day or two in the body shop each spring getting the panels realigned
there is no replacement for displacement

I just bought a Jasper 383 to drop in mine... can't wait... it comes blueprinted and balanced. I am putting it in a 1974 Z28 with all of the other stock stuff 4spd and rear. it was also affordable about 3800.00 with a 350 core trade in.

i love my chevy's!!!

as for your hei ... what do you mean by good enough??? it will run.
no change in power until you change your spark power and those e3 plugs are the only ones that realy make a difference in plugs.
but that would be ... more than enough i guess ... lol

Never owned a big block. Sorry. Do they do 4/7 swap cams for Big Blocks too? Same dizzy doesn't mean same firing order. My buddy has an HEI on his F150 and I know thats not the same.
