1980 camaro Forced air induction
Hey guys I'm new here and I'm currently restoring a 1980 camaro. I'm nearing the part where I decide whether or not I want to keep the air induction and naturally my answer is YES!!!!! However I've always had this worry about water getting in the engine whenever it rains and I don't want my newly rebuilt engine trashed so any experience/advice would be greatly appreciated.

A little water getting into the engine via the carb or intake wont hurt at all. If you get water into the oil pan, that will cause big problems, but water into the carb will be quickly burned and not have any ill effects.
Actually back in the 60's they sold water injection kits to help with performance on engines. A small spray nozzle and squirter were cut into the air cleaner and adjusted so you could push a button under hard acceleration and your engine wouldn't knock or ping if it was too far advanced.
I knew a guy who put one in his hotrod, and he could dial in a lot more advance when using the sprayer.

lol i had water in oil pan. its a pain in the *** to get out. it was about a 15qt job. of flushing changing running for 5 mins flush dump happy fun time. but all its got left is residue crap in areas not contacting oil. like dipstick tube has white crap in it and all ima clean out this oil change. but the oil/block is so clean now. the oil after 1k miles is still yellow and fresh. didnt do that turned black in a day cause the dirty stuff was still in system its real fresh. im pleased its been running great too
