I have owned a basic 1978 Camaro since 1980 and recently have had problems with the hood popping open while driving (thanks for the safety catch!) even after doing many adjustments. The hood latch assy looks like it is in good condition. Can't tell if I need a whole new assembly (which I can not find), new springs, tongue and/or pilot bolt. Familiar with this problem?

 

Sounds like it still might be an adjustment. If the catch on the core support is too low, the latch won't lock fully. It could be the latch is faulty though, if it's definitely not an adjustment problem. Have you looked at places like Classic Industries, Ricks, etc.?
