Default 1977 Type LT

I have a 1977 Type LT with 65,000 miles. It has a 250 6 cyl engine without a/c It has been in storage for about 15 years. I’m looking for advice how to restore it. Where do I start?
Do I update the powertrain or stay with the original?

I would start with an assembly manual .Then make sure the car is safe to drive .Replace all the fluids as well .On the power train that is up to you .Since you are paying for it .

We cant really answer your questions because the three major factors are the cars current condition, what do you want out of the car and the budget. There are guys out there that will do little to the cosmetic's of a car but they will go thru the rest of the car and make it solid and dependable or even upgraded in the mechanical department. There are guys that will strip the body to it shell and dip it and start there.

Restoring cars can get out of hand so having a plan and sticking to it is the best bet money wise. Most of the cars that are started but not finished either did not have a plan or the plan was not realistic.
