Actually the '77 is the last year that shared fenders with the early 2nd gens. The 70-77 all use the same fenders, so a swap doesn't require a full on front end clip. Just remove the header panel, lower valance, bumper, grille, and brackets. Then install the header panel, lower valance, brackets, bumper, grille, and headlight rings and it's got a early 2nd gen look.
Just swapping bumpers wont work.

I assume nobody is reproducing the '70-73 front clip? Probably have to find an old beat up one? Then did the Camaro use the same hood through the 70's?

You might be right with the safety laws, but anyone in their right mind by today's standards isn't much better off with that thin piece of metal up front. Just sayin, the law is lame.

Actually you can buy an enire kit to do the front over like a rally sport.

This would give you the authentic look up front but you'd still have some cutting and grafting in the back.

Oh Yeah thats true , forgot all about that, you would have to change everything in the front for a 78-81.

I replaced my entire frontend last year. All the parts are available, and hoods are the same 1970-81. But the repro parts are pretty crappy! I'd sure try to find an original GM if possible. I've seen two complete frontends around here recently. One for $500 at the swap meet, and another for $350 on Craigslist.
Where were they when I needed one?!!!!!!
