is you heat blend door hooked up corectly? usually they will be a little bent so they cannot close completly. also having the door have a leak will result in air coming out of all ducting. lastly does the car have ac?

no the car does not have ac but it has the vents for the heater and to just have air comming from outside, the vents are not my main problem because i can just seal them from inside the engine compartment, my main issue is the hot air that comes from under the stearing wheel and the dash. some people recomended that i use heat rap for the headers and it will reduce the hotness of the air comming in. ill try that soon but i also would like to find a solution to block the air comming in onceinforall.

This isn't normal for a car that has vents and everything is adjusted properly, and seals are good. My '71 with a BBC 427 ran pretty hot under the hood, but I never had any hot air coming into the passenger cabin.
I'd be checking the heater operation, and vent doors to see why the hot air is getting through to the cabin. If all of them are adjusted and seals are good, you shouldn't have a problem.

With having hot weather all year round, you could then bypass the heater core. Makes for a cleaner looking engine compartment, and leaves you with one less thing that could go wrong later down the road.

Sometimes it helps to have a friend drive your car while you sit in the passenger seat. Then you can lean over and feel down around the floor area to see where the hot air is coming through. Tough to do while you're driving.
