Default New design 68 RS Body Molding Clips

Body shop type question. A new molding clip is available for 1968 RS body moldings, which look much better than what has been available. They are push-in spring steel with a OEM style attachment to the molding. My issue is the Classic Template notes to check the clip for hole size, the clips do not specify, and the assembly manual notes a clip with a nut on the back, so I can't go by that. 5/16 dia fits nicely, but paint and primer will reduced the dia. and likely end up chipping the paint around the edges, or I could clearance the hole after painting. Either way you end up with bare steel exposed. A larger hole may end up with a sloppy fit and a loose molding.

Anyone have experience with this?

I went with the 5/16 hole. Car is getting painted next week. so I don't yet know the final word on how it will work...it will be a couple weeks before I mount the moldings. If I do need to clearance the holes, at least it is behind the trim.
