I have never been a fan of solid mount in a street car any more then not having solid mounts in a race car.
Yes, two '68's I had in early '70's received the strap and bracket bolted with the exhaust manifold bolts.
I have done what Kevin suggested with the turnbuckle, cheap and effective.
Yes, solid mounts have a tendency in pulling threads from the block.

One positive about solid motor mounts is it makes the engine block one with the subframe.
