Default New to me Camaro and a few questions

Hiyas all!

I have finally gotten my mom's 67 Convertible. The car has been promised to me since I could talk and now, 30 years later, it's sitting in my garage.

The car came originally with a 327. It's on it's third engine now, a 307 from a '72 El Camino. That's at least what I've been told the motor is. It's hard to say. It was replaced in 1989 and my mom doesn't remember much about it, and doesn't have any paper work for it. Is there a some sort serial number on the block that would provide more information?

It was just recently restored, and aside from missing a few interior bits, looks decent. The car's been sitting for quite awhile. Mom lives in Hawaii, I'm in Orgeon, and today I drove it 135 miles from the dock near Seattle back home.

The steering is really really heavy. I only drove the car once before when I was in high school and I don't remember it being that heavy. It's also slow to center itself. Any idea what it could be?

Thanks in advance for advice. I was also hoping you could direct me to a source for interior parts. I need the rear seat interior panes, the panel that goes under the doors to hold down the carpet (I don't know what they're called, but I remember that it had a "Fisher" logo on it, a and a trunk latch.

:-)

Nice car, and nice mom too!
Here's how to look up engine numbers: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-ca...oding-help.asp
The steering could just be stiff from sitting. Get a grease gun and grease all the balljoints, tie rod ends, etc. Or, someone could have messed with the steering box and tightened the sector gear too much (the nut and set screw on top). Or, if the car has power steering, make sure there's fluid in the reservoir and that the belt is on and not slipping.
The "Fisher" panel is called a threshold. Places like classicindustries.com carry those.
