Default Early spin on oil filter adaptor question

Sorry guys, I've looked through 13 pages of threads and didn't find anything.

Ok, I've got a '67 327 and just rebuilt it. I removed the canister oil filter set up and bought the little oil filter adaptor that fits in the stock location - when I sent a note to the manufacturer of the adaptor, I asked which filter fits it. They said "nope, this won't work on your car" - so I bought another spin on adaptor (Mr. Gasket 1270) and when I got ahold of someone (vendor?) they also said "nope, you need your original bypass plate "under" this unit to make it work" - so now I'm confused because I let my grand son paint the old unit (while I was painting parts to the motor) and then threw it away.

I was wondering if the new adaptor can fit under the Mr Gasket unit and work? Or do I really need to find and buy another OE bypass plate?

You will need the OE bypass plate for the Mr. Gasket unit.

Thanks Zspoiler - I bought a new Trans Dapt yesterday and it went right on. Now the motor is full of oil and the tranny is partially full of fluid. Hoping to fire up the car this afternoon ???
