Since when is bigger not better when it comes to cubic inches and h.p.?
Make sure it's a streetable engine that will run on pump gas.

Is your existing engine matching numbers to the car? If it is, stash it away for safe keeping (and the car's value) if you go the 406 route.

..I'd like yall's opinion on some things my guy that's puttin this in is saying..(long time family friend)..saying my 700r4 and original diff. will be fine but will have to change the torque converter..I want to enjoy cruising around the neighborhood but be able to "cruise" at 80 on the xpressways..I know nothing about "stall"..he's suggesting a TC with 3500rpm stall???

What cam is in the 406 and what is the compression. If its a big cam and high compression then you will need more converter.

Be sure to get the specs of the engine as suggested.
Good owners have the camshaft card and tells alot, also, the balance card.
Only problem with a high stall convertor and an OD trans is the conv never locks up because the t/conv is still loose and overheats the ATF. You will have to install the largest oil cooler between the rad cooler and trans, a must just for a 'loose'/high stall t/conv.
