1969 Camaro 396 engine
Hi. I have a 396 engine with 20000 original miles with matching turbo 400 transmission. This engine has been in my father's street rod since 1970 when it was recovered from a wrecked Camaro. I am not sure of the HP if a 375 or 325 HP. The engine has never been apart and was never abused. I am looking to part with it. Any recommendations as to the best way to advertise it and pricing it? I have rods so this does not fit with my builds. Thanks

Step one:
Hit up all the classic GM forum and post the partial Vin and the date codes. You are going to get the most money if you have find the car it came in. It unlikely but possible to find the car. BUT even if you car is the right date code and a close vin someone may want that motor for a little creative number adjustments. The correct engine just off a few vin numbers is going to bring a lot more money then just an low miles big block. The LS world is killing the prices on older V8s.

He's not going to find the original 69 that the engine came out of. A wrecked dime a dozen 69 back in 70 means the car would have been scrapped. The 396 would be worth more money to someone who wants to build a "close but no cigar" SS.

I agree is it unlikely but a couple of years ago there was a hot rod t-bucket owner updating hit rod to a more modern motor. He posted the partial vin on the net for the DZ 302 and they found each other.
