Nice car for sure,don't think I could resist the temptation to yank all the smog stuff off and put long tube headers an Edlebrock intake and a 4 brl carb on there.

I'd do it and keep all the stock stuff since it's nothing that can't be undone.

There is a large vacuum hose running from the air cleaner to the somewhere behind the distributor. Do you know if it is going into the block, and can I plug the opening in the block when I remove all the smog gear?

without emission it should be a tube with an elbow that dumps crank case ventilation on to the ground or below car.
Let me know if you are getting rid of any parts. I may have some interest.
