I am going to keep the original 10 bolts 8.2 axle.
Anyone knows if the 8.2 and 8.5 uses the same cover gasket? Rock Auto has only 8.5"

I am trying to change the rear axle shaft
I got a Centric 41764000 from RockAuto in their DriveTrain > Axle Shaft Seal section.
Can't see how it could fit.
I am not sure if I removed all of the old seal or if there is still some rim in place.
They have more parts available in their Brake & Wheel Hub > Wheel Seal sectrion.
Anybody could tell mewhat is going on?

Any numbers on the old one? I honestly don't know if the 8.2 and 8.5 use the same seals

No visible marking on the old ones.
Rock auto do not specify in their offers the differential dimension.
It is 50x35.5mm (1.969x1.398) against 2.292x1.399. Looks like shaft size is OK but not the outer size.
Wondering if shaft has been altered?

Go to a local parts store and try matching a seal from a 4th gen Camaro. It's a 7.5in 10 bolt but it may use the same seal as the 8.2

Thicker seal so as the new seal lip rides on a new surface on axle?

I don't believe so. I know what you're talking about, a repair bearing, but that style comes with the bearing and seal as unit

Thank you for the help but no 4th gen Camaro parts around here (no US car parts either)
I may try to get a general purpose seal as all the Camaro parts do not seems to fit.
Anyone can tell me if they ever saw a similar rear axle or the same old seal? All the camaro dealers seems to sell the much larger seal that do not fit here.
