Default 67 motor to '69 turbo 350 trans kickdown

Hi, '67 RS w/ 327. '69 turbo 350 trans.. Kickdown is linkage type for 67 motor, cable for '69 trans. so currently disconnected. Show car so need to keep the original linkage (at least the part visible in engine bay). Is there a part or does anyone have a way to adapt the two different types of kickdown? Thanks.

I have not seen that before. Most guy that worry about "shows" are not putting TH350 in their 67s. There is no way to hide the trans swap and just not having the original trans could kill your chances in a scored show. A more modern transmission should be in the modified class same as an LS swap. Yea, that is a jump but the purest do not care. Not me I am not a purest but I have worked for them. Nothing like getting yelled at cause you scuffed the factory correct over spray under the car.

To do it. I think you would have to fabricate something. You could leave the 67's linkage in place, maybe a spring to hold it up, and not hooked up and just not run the Th350 kick down cable. All the cable does is down shifts while passing. Internally the kick down cable just decreases the governor pressure. All the governor pressure does is control shifts. So not hooking up the kickdown cable just means you need to manually pull the gear down to pass or wait for the vacuum to drop it down a gear. The whole reason for the kick down cable is so the shifts will feel crisper under rapid acceleration. The cable knows the second you hit the gas you want to go faster the Vacuum modulator does not know until the load is showing in the form of lack of vacuum. What is better is knowing right before you slam the go pedal and pulling the car down a gear manually.

Most guys that drive their cars hard do not have these creature comforts hooked up. The next step is a manual valve body which makes your automatic into a manual without a clutch. Not saying you should do that but I have heard guys tell people that disconnection these shift modifiers will cause the trans to over hear. IMO those guys are just passing on what someone told them.

Sorry I could not help, if you do find something please post back. My knowledge is a little (or a lot) dated.

Thanks for response .I'm not an over the top purist; and I don't show the underside of the car. Mine's just a real clean driver. Owned since '78 (first car) and when I restored it in the 90's, I didn't want the glide back in it. It turned out quite stock so I want to keep the linkage visible. After 20+ years , was just wondering if anyone had come up with something for this combination. Definately don't need it. Have been dropping it manually for 30 years. Maybe will fabricate something. Maybe a clamp on the end of the linkage to attach the cut down end of the inner cable.???

I am the same I like the look of original. I don't show mine so my engine bay does not matter.
