Spring compressor search

Another way to remove the spring. Get the car off the ground and on jack stands. Remove the shock. Put a chain through the spring for safety. Put a floor jack on the underneath backside of the lower control arm. Remove the inward lower control arm bolts. Slowly let the jack down. The ball joints will hold the front of the assembly together and act as a pivot point. Remove the spring from the back. Reverse the procedure to put the spring back in.

That is a sweet unit from HF - I'm doing my '67 now and used a standard unit. I had the shocks pulled (since I'm doing upper & lower control arms & springs) and ran the bolt up the center with the lower spring mount as close to the bottom as I could - the top of the bolt went thru the shock mount hole, I raised the control arm (& spring) up as high as it would go, then tightened the upper mount (on top of the frame) and let the jack back down. Popped off the lower control arm and then lowered the spring out. =)
