Default Subframe connectors

i have a 1968 camaro i have recently started messing with the suspension i have purchased a set of subframe connectors from competition engineering. the weld in ones and i cant seem to get them to fit over my leaf springs. i was reading competition egineerings instructions and they dont make sense to me i knows i dont removes the stock bracket holding in the leaf springs. but if i dont then i will have to bend the metal or grind on it to make it fit and i really dont want to do either i was hoping someone has a picture of them installed because this would help me alot. i know i have to cut in my floor boards im replacings those also due to rust and im installing energy suspension bushings on my car also.

Are these the ones you have? Competition Engineering C3012 - Competition Engineering Weld-On Subframe Connectors - Overview - SummitRacing.com
That's what I have on my car. The front of your leaf springs bolt onto the spring eye brackets on the bars. These take the place of your stock front leaf spring mount brackets, which in themselves can be a "fun" project removing them. The instructions tell you to remove the leaf springs, which would include the front brackets (making sure to mark on the frame where the front bolts are located). And for re-installation of the springs, the instructions tell you to remove the stock brackets (step 14a). These aren't nearly as easy as bolt-ons, but much better once you're done.

ok so i remove the stock brackets that hold the leaf spring on and replace it with just the subframe connector. and yes that is the suframe connectors i have. are you running energy suspension bushing in your car? because i had a shave one of my bushing down to fit in the subframe is this normal? you know the rod that runs threw the bushing well the bushing was sticking out from it and it wouldnt fit in the subframe.

Are these the instructions you read? http://www.competitionengineering.co...c3047_inst.pdf
You want to mark the existing front bolt locations because you need to make sure the fronts of the springs are in the stock location front to back. These bars are your "new" front mounting point for the leaf springs, and you don't want things in there crooked. And it's not uncommon to have to "clearance" poly bushings sometimes, a little shave isn't going to hurt it.

That's how I shave things, on the side of the wheel though since it's a flat surface. Use the front of the wheel and you can gouge and also end up with the bushing being uneven.

Do the first gen ones make you move the spring inward like the second gen ones do? I have a set in the rafters because I didn't want that.
