Insanely Jealous of O's Camaro.

I now know what my biggest downfall was... I needed a Squid helping me with mine.

*waits on more pics....

Merry Christmas! I have read your build thread a few times. You have some serious patience. My car has about 4-5 month to go and I can barely stand it. When mine is done I will have to drive over to meet you and see your car. Not too far from you, I am just outside of Daytona. Let me know if you need any parts, mine is a 67' but I am replacing just about everything on my car and will have plenty of parts.

I am happy to report that we almost got the entire shifter linkage connected. At 1st when we got the shifter into place it was resting on the left side of the header. So we had to bend over the header just a bit so it won't bang together.

Next the hole on the shifter is slightly bigger than the bolt on the transmission, so we have to weld on a washer so that there will be a tight connections and the gears will turn properly.

This is the connector with the washer on it temp. It has to be moved slightly to line up the connection and that's where we stopped. It won't take long the next time we work on it to finish this up and get the drive shaft in.

We did take a little video of the shifter linkage working.

So I thought I would give you a bit of an update on what's been going on.

As most of you on here know that I decided to sell my camaro a few months ago. It is up for sale but I doubt it will sell. And if it does I will have to take allot less for it than I want to. Problem is there is allot of work to be done on it....I'd say about 1/3 left. Most who have shown up throw me a number like 10 or 12K. They want to repaint it and turn it into a RR or and SS. Its only worth allot to me cause we did the work and had it restored, spent the money on all the sheet metal and parts........so it will sit there for now. I did have someone call me yesterday wanting to know if I would sell it without the motor and tranny....just have a rolling car. This could work if he offers me enough for the rest of it.

I did however talk to a friend who restores old cars and he led me to a guy who could finish it for me. He said $3000 would do everything and could get it done in a week. That made my heart sing a bit but I don't have the money. He did also say that he would work with my budget. If I came up with 1k at a time he would do that much work and then ship it home to me. So if it doesnt sell then maybe by Christmas if I get an extra 1k then maybe I could atleast get it running. I know that the Squid and I can do the interior.

For now I have to save up to replace my AC in my house. It has died and Ive been living without AC for the past month.....and I live in Florida. Its my slow time of year for work and I just dont have the 3k to fix it. So the dozen fans I have running in my house will have to do for a while.

We did have to clean up the carport. The city I live in changed their code on what's allowable to have out there. So the Squid got busy and built this giant cabinet thats behind our privacy fence to house all the tools and stuff. I think he did a fabulous job.

I understand your problems O. Even though I havent sank alot of cash into mine yet, its still not gonna sell for what Ive got in it and all the parts I've bought. The wife thinks I should eBay all the parts but I kinda thought I would get more out of it with all the parts. Kinda in a holding pattern till something changes with the economy I suppose. The aggravating part is Ive seen several really nice running/driving 69's for $20k. where the hell were all these Camaros when I was looking for one?!

and I cant imagine bein without the A/C. ours is 18 years old and everyday I am thankful that it still cools. my parents A/C went out about 3 weeks ago, mom said its been 88 degrees inside. not good because my dad has been in really bad shape lately.

Tell the Squid I said he sure is a great cabinet builder.

Hey O, I'm glad to hear you still have it and are not setteling for a quick sale. And extrememly happy to hear that you might end up finishing it. So let me pose this question to you. If you do end up paying the guy to finish it, then what? You might as well keep it then and enjoy it right?

Well Scooch what we are gonna do is for now get a $300 can of freon and fill it up. We have a slow leak that can't be fixed. So I can have AC its just that its not a big enough system for our house so my electric bill is so high.

Arrow I have thought about that question. My last accident has changed my life and God really got my attention. For what's happened in my life and this accident I should not be standing here. I feel safer in the Probe I drive now and don't know if I would keep the camaro or not or just drive it around town.
