Wow! I just finished reading your entire thread and I am really impressed! I know this is your first project and that just makes it even more impressive. I admire yourintestinal fortitude and your pocketbook, and thank goodness forthat top notch body man. Kudos to you and to him. I finished my '69 back in '85 but I gotta tell you, even though mine was an insurance total, you are in much deeper than I ever was. Great job of documenting the job too. Why, if I wasn't already married, and you weren't already married, and I did'nt live 3000 miles away, and I wasn't so old, and, and........just kidding! Can't wait to see the rest of the project.

Okay, my computer is sooo slow I now have a case of computer butt from an hour and a half of reading and looking at photos. Can't wait to see the rest of the project.

thanks hotrod momma...and camaroldman...you are too funny.....and thanks!

ok well guess what....the rear end is done. Well everything is done except for a small spot on the left side of the trunk gutter. He got the right rear quarter panel all welded on and he completed the right side of the trunk opening. Everything looks great and this week he is gonna start cutting the roof off.

NPD. My guy likes them the best for quality and consistancy in fit.

Well my guy has made a lot of progress. He has basically finished the rear end, trunk opening, & smoothed the joints where he connected the quarters.

One thing that has been decided is that my trunk lid needs to be replaced. It has a crack, rust spots, and dents accross the top edge.

Also the roof has now been cut off and as we thought, we have to replace all of the frame.

Would you be able to ask your body guy where he cut along the portion above the doors? I am curious to know where to start the cuts... btw great pics...That sucks about the deck lid and upper frame...that always sucks to find out there is more than you initially planned on, but it always seems to be that way now doesn't it...?

ok so the only body work that got done was that he fixed the last hole in the right rear quarter.

Now on to the roof. Here are a couple of pics from above the door that will show....I hope.....where he cut.

Here is a side view pic. I am told by my body guy that there are no side pieces in the frame kit and that he has to cut away all the rust holes and refabricate the metal before that roof goes back on.

The last 2 pics are of where the roof was cut off of the quarter panel. He is cutting away the last of the roof.

Here is a pic of the new roof panel. We took a side view shot of it so you can see the lip on the side. Sorry for all the dust.
