RS 250 with SS hood?
I stopped by a local car show and spoke to an owner of a 69 RS Convertible that had RS emblems and what appeared to be an SS hood although the owner called it an RS hood. The owner said it came from the factory with this style hood as well as a 250 6 cylinder. What do you guys think? Was therean RS250 with RS badging and an SS style hood released from the factory?
No. If there was an SS hood the emblems would have been SS as well. There is such a thing as an SS/RS, but the SS emblems 'outrank' the RS emblems. I dont have my litarature (its all packed waiting to move) but I am pretty sure neither model came with a 250 either.
The guy obviously doesn't even know his own car. RS was an Appearance Package, SS was a Performance Package with either a 350 or 396 available, not a 6 cyl. You could have ordered an RS/SS, but there would be no RS emblems on the car. It would haveSS emblems on the front grill, tail panel, and on the side front fenders. And there's no such thing as an "RS hood", RS models had a standard hood.
EDIT: There's also no such thing as a v-6 first gen Camaro (they were a straight six). I don't know why this section even exists in the forums?
