Default Z28 drive train info needed

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 68 Z28 clone. It has a 302, 30-30 cam, camelback heads, 11:1 comp pistons, winters hi-rise, 800 holley. 4 speed muncie with 3.73 rear end.

My question is that does this set up commonly run high revs? I sit at 4000 at 65 mph.

Would higher gears lower the revs for longer dist cruising?

Thx all

You didn't mention what size of tires you're running on, but using 195/75/14s and 225/60/15s in this it says you should be around 3200.

Changing your rear gears would help bring that down, but would kill your acceleration.

You could swap for a 5 or 6-speed transmission as one option. Overdrive would make a bigger difference than your rear axle ratio, without ruining the gas pedal for you.

The speedo gears in your trans aren't the right ones. You're going faster than you think you are.

I just love my new Keisler TKO600 5speed trans. I can cruise 75mph (gps) @ aprox 2350 rpms. I'm run'n 3.55 rear gears, p255/60 tires, over drive is 0.64. the trans bolted right in w/ only minor tunnel modifications (previously automatic). the 6 speed would've required a lot more modification. I think i spent $2500 for just the trans but since i was converting from automatic, I ended up around $4000 for everything. their number is 865-609-8187.

Tire size is 235/60/15's (25 1/4 in tall). I havent GPS'd the speedo yet, thats on my "to-do" list.

Shouldn't that be etched into the rear view mirror? lol
I suppose the local gendarmes will be happy to give him a time slip letting him know how fast he was going.
