Default Would this be the stupidest idea yet? Intake and carbs....

So, I'm looking around for an Edelbrock intake and carb to replace the stock intake and Quadra-jet on the 67 conv. I haven't found what I'm looking for yet, but have stumbled across an Offenhauser intake with twin 600 Holleys. Now, would this be the stupidest thing that I could do (probably not, I've done far stupider), or would it be a super cool thing to have under the hood?? The motor is a reasonably stock 350, but not original to the car.

Gee I dunno, what kind of a nut runs 2 carbs?
Keep in mind, if you're almost lost with the concept of tuning one carb, two of them are going to make it three times as hard on you.
With that said, nothing beats the "ooh" factor when you open the hood, or in my case leave it open! I think you know my answer.

If you looking for a wow factor that will work but with a stock 350 your going to kill your low end torque. Those long runners are are designed to higher RPM/Higher flow. A torquer II intake and a 670 Holley avenger is going to get you a lot close to a fuel injection type drive.

Now if you build a 383 with a decent lift cam and a stong bottom end the above intake is going to really start singing at 4800 RPMs and she will hold the note deep into 7K. I had a friend with a like setup in a 70 nova. At 5K it felt like he hit a nitrous switch.

Didn't mean to mislead you Gorn, I threw mine out there for the fun of it. I'm sure he's looking at either the Offy 5253 low profile dual quad, or the 5694 high rise (not ram). Both are a divided single plane style. Not quite as good for bottom end as a dual plane, but not nearly as hi-rpm thirsty as my tunnel ram is.

Oh yeah, watch your distributor clearance with that dual quad setup. Pretty sure the rear carb isn't going to clear an HEI.

IMO, yes it would be a "stupid" idea... But, whatever floats your boat...

Have fun!

Well, what kind of nut are you? This might become a mute point, I was going through my Camaro stuff (remember, I don't ever through anything out), and found not one but 2 Quadra-Jets, one in very good condition. So now if I decide I want to have a 2x4 set-up, it would be for the super cool factor. Hard to put a price on that, right?
