Where does this wire go?

I was hoping someone can help me with this. I just bought the Camaro I have been chasing for over 20 years. Its a 68 Z28 RS. My question is there is a black wire that comes out of a taped harness running by the master cylinder. Then it continues along the outside of the harness to the regulator/horn relay area. That's where I found it coiled up and not connected to anything. It has a a black rubber inline fuse holder with a very short 4 amp glass fuse in it. The end of the wire has a spade type terminal. I have looked at all the wiring diagrams I can find on the web and I cant find this fused wire. Does anyone know what this wire is for and where it attaches? I have a 1974 C10 pickup and it has similar fuse holders and if I remember right it was for the amp meter system. Great forum! Thanks in advance.

This wire is an aftermarket appliance add-on.
No fuses were in engine compartment, just fuse panel.
Does console have gauges?
If so, ammeter is actually a millivoltmeter and connected to horn relay buss bar, black wire, I think, and other terminal/wire to battery junction block, black/white wire.
But no fuses in this circuit either.
Welcome, Bob, reads like a nice ride and correct year

Thanks Everett, I was thinking along the same lines as you because it has a spade terminal like the connections on the horn relay. It does have the console w/gauges. I don't think it is aftermarket though, because it is a Chevrolet fuse holder that I have seen on many cars of that era. Also, this car is an all original unrestored one owner car and I can tell the harness that the black wire comes out of has not been tampered with and it looks totally original to me. I really appreciate your help with this.

Thank you, as shown, factory option U26 as ordered by first buyer, maybe.
but, could have been added during assembly line just in case.
Build sheet would show this.
You may want to look for an AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual)
I would send you mine, but too big for electronic mailing.
Aftermarket houses have the reproduction books.
