What about this car. Any guesses or opinions?
I know of a 69 that was bought new and still owned by that buyer. It is a plain body with wheels that had small hubcaps. The owner used to street race but never raced this car. And has from the very first been secretive about the car. The engine has never been seen by me, but a local parts shop was questioned when the car was new and they supposedly said it took a different oil filter. I suspect that it is a 427 COPO. Would a 427 back in 69 have used a different oil filter. The car hasn't been driven in years and is of course stored in a barn. Does the oil filter indicate anything? There has been some information that it might be one of only two or three left in the world.
no they are the same as any other 427 or big block chevy in 69 also it might be a plain jane 6 cylinder too since the copo camaros looked like that. without seeing the motor you'll never know what it is. unless there is some kind of engine displacement emblem on it
Thanks for the oil filter info. I had done a lot of research on the filters surfing different stores and some had different numbers and some didn't. But since some did have the same part number I figured that it was the same filter for all the V8 egines. Its been a long time mystery. I know that magazines have found out about the car, but the owner won't talk to them so it still is unknown. Thanks for the info.
It's all about the VIN numbers my friend, check every vin you can find to make sure it's the real deal, the secretive nature tells me that this guy is playing horse-hockey with you, if the car turns out to be a true COPO Camaro, you've stumbled upon a diamond in the rough.
