Trim Tag Decoding

Trim Tag Decoding
I'm looking at this car and trying to identify if it is indeed a true RS/SS or not. It currently has a non-original 350, so I can't just look at the motor numbers to tell. Can you tell by the trim tag image here whether or not it is a true SS?

I would say it is real.
3SL Group=3 S= Interior Decor GRP L= Rally sport package
4P Group=4 P= SS350
5Y Group=5 Y= belts all deluxe
There is some question about the 4p Depending on the month, but I think yours is far enough into production they had it sorted out. If the car has the original engine with it, and it is a 350 then it is an SS. All 350's in 67 were SS's.
This is just from my notes on my car. Our tags are very close. You can find more information at the "Camaro research group" online. Camaro Research Group
Maybe I can save you some time. The next question is how rare these combined options are. No one knows. GM did not store options combination numbers. You know how many 350SS cars were built and how many RS cars they built but no idea how many RS/SS cars were built. There are websites out there that say they can predict using statistics. That type of information is only as good as its source. Since people filled out their info online and we know a fair amount of the cars out there are unknown clones then the info will be skewed. Even if that was untrue the fact that back in the 70s 80s and 90s non-SS cars were parted out to restore/repair SS cars, plus more options more chances of the car being saved would also make any data collection almost meaningless.
