Default Subframe bushings help

I changed the sub frame bushings on the passenger side without any problems. However the drivers side I cant get the body high enough away from the sub frame to change the bushings. I jack up the body but before it gets high enough to change the bushings the sub frame comes up with the body. Any idea what could be causing the frame to come up?

Thanks but already have the passenger side loose. The bolts are out and the bushings are loose. Prying doesnt do anything at all. Its obviously catching on something just havent figured out what.

Also considering the new bushing is almost 1 1/2 inch thick I need a lot more then 1/8 inch clearance between the sub frame and body to replace them.

Only thing I can think of that would not flex a little is the steering column. Would just take a couple nuts from disconnect the rag joint from steering box...?

I actually thought about that. Hopefully I can find some time tomorrow to check it out.

Stupid remark but you have well loosened the front bolt towards the radiator?

I remember also needing to remove the outer front bumper bracket bolts to subframe

It is also advisable to loosen the 3 (on 67) bolts that hold the steering column to firewall (under dash). Once all sub frame bolts are in and tightened, with front tires off the ground, turn steering wheel lock to lock several times to allow the steering column to rag joint to "settle". Then tighten the 3 steering column flange bolts. This is because with new, taller, body mounts the angle is changed of the steering column

and...although you have already done one side....there is a alignment hole just outboard of the center (A pillar) body mount. Best to keep a donor 5/8" bolt held up in that to keep sub-frame and body aligned. This is what the jig on assembly line used to mate body to sub frame

So turns out I had to remove the steering column in order to get the body high enough to change out the bushings.

Great... glad you got it done. I think SoCal67 is right about the steering column adjustment. If your raising the body a little higher, be sure to research other items affected by this change.
