Starter problems
I'm new to this forum so hopefully somebody can help. Had my 69 Camaro in storage for two years. Took it out last week, changed the fluids and she started right up. Since then it won't start. The original starter solenoid was clicking continuously when trying to start so I replaced it. Now the new solenoid only clicks once each time you try to start the car. The battery seems to be ok but I'm going to get it tested. Any other recommendations?
Test the battery, check the battery cables at BOTH ends! If it doesn't gorund well to the block it can act like bad battery or cables.
Did you test the starter while it was off the engine? You can use jumper cables. Do you have your battery ground cable going directly to the engine? If the battery, connections, and starter check out ok, it could be too tight of a mesh between the bendix gear and flywheel causing a wedgy.
Sounds like everything was bad. I had a 75 jeep and it would eat through solenoids all the time. That's usually what the rapid clicking is. Is the solenoid trying to latch then comes open and repeats over and over again. Good to hear that it's running again.
