speedo cable length
Type of speedo used shouldn't change the length, and Autometer should have the same threads as stock. If you simply order a stock replacement it will fit right in.
Autometer gauges do not have the same threads as stock, I learned the hard way. Go to Speedometer Service of Milw providing speedometer solutions and they will make one for you exactly for autometer gauges. 72 inches long is what I ordered and that fits good. Make sure you have them put the speedo hole grommet on the cable. Cost me $57.50 total.

Wonder when they changed? I've got a Autometer speedo and a stock cable screwed right on it. Not sure which one you bought, but they still list one with 5/8x18" thread that should fit the stock Chevy speedo cable end:
