Default Rear cooling ports blocked off on Edelbrock 2701

Running a 350 ci with an Edelbrock 2701 intake in a 69 Camaro - pretty standard setup. Hoping someone can explain why the rear coolant ports are blocked/non-existent on the intake? Doesn't this cause the rear cylinders to run hotter? My number eight cylinder runs hotter than the others as measured on the header. Is this the standard setup on all brand intakes? Edelbrock says this is standard for street setups but not for nitro or track. Appreciate any info/advice.

Standard design, even by GM, no rear coolant crossover on manifold.
Yes, #8 cylinder will be hotter, just like #7, or close to it.

Search SBC coolant flow on da google, only the forward thermostat cross over is needed. Most racing intakes block off the center cross over also. The only reason the center crossover exist is to help the intake warm up in the winter. For racing cold air is good warn air bad. Warm air can help with fuel mileage and emission.
