Default Radiator cap location on Rad support

I just installed a 70’s Nova radiator on my 69. Question is, is the radiator cap suppose to be over the support or level with the support?

You see how the cap is above the radiator. Is that ok?

Good start for me so far on this question. Hopefully it’s the same for 69. Thanks for your answer

1968-72 Nova`s are the same .Thats an aftermarket radiator so its different from a stock "Modine" type of radiator of which are tilted.

As long as the hood closes, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't attach that radiator permanently in place on the core support until it's mounted on the car, your hood might be in the way by how it looks. My radiator cap is about even with the highest point (middle) of the support, but I don't have a hood on for clearance reference.

Yeah, that’s what I’m worrying about is the good closing on it. And it’s bolted and not welded in place. Just I already drilled 1/2 holes.

here is a picture of mine. it 1.75" above the support. if you are uncertain place some clay on the cap and close the hood all but latching and check the clay

I have a 69 Camaro with the original Harrison tanks and brackets. The filler neck is mounted at an angle on the beveled top corner of the radiator. The inboard edge of the cap sticks up 3/4" above the core support closest point. Using clay on the inboard edge of the cap, 1 1/8" clearance with the hood closed (factory hood).
