Default Quick Engine question can stock bottom end hold 540HP?

Hello, decided to add more Muscle to my 68, I have a stock 454 2 bolt main and just bought the Edelbrock top end power package that has Cam, lifters, Heads, Intake and Carb. On stock 454 with 9.6.1 compression dyno sat 540HP,

I took the Engine to the Machine shop and they said it looks great that they will just bore .30 and hone everything and rebuild the bottom with all ARP bolts and then put 10.1 compression Pistons and it should plenty good for 550HP????

He said Stock internals can handle 650 easy?

I'm just building a cruiser, not a drag racer...etc it will have a rev limiter on it at 6000 rpms. I will not be beating the crap out of this car, just jumping on it occasionally...

Just wanted some opinions why the engine is apart, I could toss a bunch more money in Rods and Crank but Engine shop says it's a waste of money for this build!

Any opinions or folks with experience with similar builds?

Thanks,

Michael

Engine will be fine, just don't keep the revs up.
Build torque for the street.

You didn't mention if you had a steel crank. I'm guessing not. It will still hold up to 550 hp without problems. Just don't spray it. Ok maybe a little shot! lol
