Default powerglide fluid

[align=left]newbie here need help what fluid does 69 powerglide use dexron I, II, III , VI whats the deal with all these.Im 17 and Just pulled moms 69 out of storage. checked engine out changed oil, got it started, has a 355 built a few years ago, but trans is low so what goes in. Tried a search but no real info. I take it is dexron but are all numbers usable Wally world carries dex III, automatics are new to me. thanks

use a Dextron III or above. I personally like using Type F in my trannys because it gives me a firmer shift but I can't recommend that for you because I don't know what shape your powerglide is in, and I'm going to safely assume it is stock. the newer dextrons carry a higher heat value so they won't gum up in the tranny as easy
