Default oil press light stays on

I just got a 69 Camaro that started live as a base car without gauges and now has a ZZ4 350. I have only had the car about a week and have not really run it hard yet but the other day I did get on it a little in 1st and 2nd and the oil light came on and will not go off. I have checked the level and it has plenty of oil, it anything it may be a little over full but this sort of baffles me as to why it never came on during regular driving but once I got on it now it will not go out. Wish I had the gauges on the console so I could know the oil pressure, that will be one of many planned upgrades.

I wouldn't be able to drive a car without gauges. Idiot lights suck, because they don't monitor rate of change, and sometimes warn you only after it's too late. Could be a faulty sending unit, or it could be an oil pressure issue. You won't know which until you check pressure with a gauge. Mechanical gauges trump electrics btw.

Oh yeah, I moved this thread to the 1st gen section.
The "Getting Started" section refers to getting familiar with this site, not for getting an engine started!
